The University of South Florida Inks 3 Game Football Deal with The University of Alabama
Whewwww doggie, mark your calendars Bulls fans, September 16, 2023. The Alabama Crimson Tide roll into Tampa to play the Bulls. Now, this is going to be tough to watch but boy am I excited as a fan to watch it. Has there been a team more likely to cock tease you than the Bulls here locally? They start out so great every year and then lose to East Carolina with 2 games left. See related GIF below:
So, they never end up getting any kind of love for a decent Bowl Game and end up playing in the Big Boy Mower and Shrimp Boat Invitational every year and granted, while they win usually, it’s pretty unsatisfying. Of course the Knights have been a fantastic team for years now and have had the Bulls number. They’re good, okay, I get it but this is a big deal for the program. They don’t even have to win these games but if they can make them competitive, that’ll show a lot to the polls. I’m FREAKING excited!
USF has been successful at scheduling Power Five opponents in recent years, and this season it will face both Wisconsin and Georgia Tech. In future seasons it has games scheduled against Texas (2020), NC State (2021, 2024), Florida (2021, 2022, 2025), Louisville (2024, 2026) as well as Miami (2025, 2027). Now it's added Alabama to the mix, ensuring that, should the Bulls have enough success to earn consideration for a playoff bid, they could have a resume the committee deems strong enough to give it one.

You have to love this years Rays team, they’re exceeding expectations, winning games, lights out pitching, everything you could really want. It’s been a while since they’ve been a contender. The other thing I like about this team is that they seem fun. They’re young and energetic and just seem like they’re having a good time playing the game. That’s what Joe Maddon brought to the table and this coaching staff seems to have that same kind of feel. Let’s ask Ozzie Timmons, Rays First Base Coach who clocked a fan chugging a beer during the Miami trip last week.

#HMB 279 - Rays Up, the Game is Rigged
The Homemade Broadcast this week, Rays baseball is back! Expectations are high buy will they make the playoffs? M’eh, I dunno, I don’t want to jinx them. A high profile activist For The People whose next cause is getting the minimum wage up to 15 dollars an hour here in Florida get’s called out by a local rag for not paying his employees 15 dollars an hour. The problem I found however is that they pay a third party company to take their inbound calls so the firm isn’t the one paying the workers directly. Some of these people are really, really bad at their jobs. And finally, Jussie Smollett gets 16 felony charges dropped out of the blue and don’t worry, there’s nothing fishy going at all, do not look behind the curtain.

Anyway, I’m still happy to have him on if he wants to chat (if you’re reading this). Also, we talk about smokable Medical Marijuana on it’s way to being legalized in Florida. Isn’t it just time to end the prohibition on it once and for all though. I know, I know, baby steps…

#HMB 260 - Midterm Madness & Chasing Dumb Dreams
The Midterm 2018 elections came and went…uh…are still coming, everywhere, all over everything so watch your eyes. The D team took control back of the House of Representatives. Nancy Pelosi promised a tone down of the rhetoric when “they win” but so far, it’s as bad as ever. Florida, of course, unable to be normal for anything is in the news. Three of the elections were so close that they are in a recount. Matt Caldwell was declared the winner of the Agriculture Commissioner but has since been overtaken by Nikki Fried. Rob…Ron? Desantos? Him. He is the new Governor! Oh, uh, yea, that one is also probably headed to a recount. Of course, Rick Scott, who spent over 20 million dollars of his own money to get a job that pays $174,000 a year won his race with Bill “I’m not wearing a Halloween costume, that’s my face” Nelson. Except no, that one in is in a recount too and he’s suing Broward County over possible election fraud.
This isn’t the first time Dr. Brenda Snipes has had election drama. In May, a judge ruled she illegally destroyed ballots. Somehow, she still has her job. Of course, the D’s are just saying they want all the ballots counted, that’s it, nothing more to see here but you can’t blame the R’s for being suspicious of just finding all these ballots just laying around. It’s sketchy, that’s all I’m saying and if you don’t think so, you’re an ideologue, plain and simple. So we’ll see what happens, no matter what happens you can be sure that we will be the one’s to pay the price.

#HMB 259 - Return of Fitzmagic
Hey gang, welcome to the week. It was a tough one for the return of the man, myth and near legend Ryan Fitzpatrick. He took over the starting Quarterback job for the Bucs for the time being and it didn’t even up great on Sunday, although he had a pretty dang good game stat wise. Threw for 4 touchdowns and 2 interceptions. My prediction for a Bucs win was dashed almost immediately when the Panthers opened up a can whoop ass in the first half, scoring 35 points and putting Fitz “far behind the 8 ball”. God I hate that phrase…
So what’s the deal? The real problem is the Defense and Special Teams. You can’t give up 35 points in the first half and expect to win that game. The D is abysmal, like historically bad. The Kicker was pretty good yesterday but he hasn’t been this season and the Bucs appear to be cursed at that position since the STAPH saga and releasing Matt Bryant (who kicked a game winner against the Bucs a few weeks ago). The season appears to be a loss at this point. They just can’t win with the Defense they have now. As great as Fitz has been I think it’s time to just see if Winston is the guy for the future. Play him the rest of the way and see if he’s worth that 5th year 20 million dollar option or if it’s time to clean house and start over once again. It’s hard being a fan of this team, they’ve been so bad for so long and there just doesn’t seem to be an end in sight. They acquire lots of talent but can’t get the wins.

This time we have some real dozzy’s in contention for Governor of this Great State of Florida. Ron…Rob…Ron? Desantos? Sanchez? Whatever his name is and Andrew “Bring It Home” Gillum who had some problems with the FBI because he’s black and only because he’s black and nothing else so don’t pay attention to anything like that. It’s working, because GREAT NEWS! Supporters of his couldn’t care any less! HOORAY! I dunno, personally I don’t really care either. You have to do some palm greasing in politics and business. It’s just the way it works, it ain’t right but it is.
